As we get older, we see a lot of body changes. The body may not be as healthy as before, as a result of years of wear and tear. People move slower and may experience illnesses and other discomforts brought by old age. Older dogs are no different.
The prime and vitality of dogs dwindle over time. So, when their bodily functions start to deteriorate, they also need special care and assistance from their owners or even from their own kind.
Charlie, an 11-year-old Golden Retriever, lost his eyesight to glaucoma. It was a difficult decision for his owners, Adam and Chelsea Stipe, to have his eyes removed due to his illness. A month after his eye operation, his owners brought another Golden retriever at home.
They named the puppy Maverick. The two pooches didn’t get along well at first, but it didn’t take long for them to become friends. Eventually, they became inseparable. Maverick followed Charlie wherever he went — in the room, in the yard, and the list goes on. Sometimes, Charlie could not locate his toys, so Mavie brought the toys to him.
Their relationship flourished and got deeper as they do things together every day. Mavie became Charlie’s eyes as they walk around the neighborhood. The little pup was quick to assist his senior dog companion as if it were his duty and responsibility to do so.
The two dogs had become best friends. They shared the same food, did the same things, played together, and went to the same places together. Maverick became Charlie’s new eyes so he could roam to different areas in and around their house. Their owners documented their heartwarming love for each other on Instagram. They now have over a hundred thousand followers who are always eager to learn about their updates.
