A Good Samaritan named Ernesto woke up to a big surprise one day. When he went outside, he saw a massive dog inside his yard. The pup seemed friendly, he thought, so he tried to approach him. When he looked at him closely, that’s when he knew the poor pup had wounds on his body.
Ernesto wanted to help the pup but he knew he needed expert care so he sought help. He searched for anyone who could lend a hand and stumbled upon Hope For Paws. He notified the rescue group about the dog through text message and rescuer JoAnn Wiltz headed out right away to help.
While waiting for the rescuer, the kind man took care of the dog. He let him stay by the doorway where there was shade. He also gave him some water to quench his thirst.
When JoAnn came, Ernesto told her the dog just showed up on their property, bleeding. He kept him comfy as much as he could and kept him company until she arrived. He did a wonderful job attending to the needs of the dog so she thanked him for his kindness.
JoAnn tried to gain the dog’s trust but she realized almost instantly that it wasn’t necessary. The cheeseburger she offered him did the trick. He was food motivated, after all.
The rescuer drove the dog, which she named Hippo, later on, straight to the animal clinic. The vets estimated he was between 5 and 6 years old. They also believed he obtained his injuries after getting hit by a car. He had road burns but no fractures or any other internal injuries.
After receiving medical care, Hippo enjoyed a nice cool bubble bath. Later on, he continued to his foster home with L.A. Animal Rescue. He thrived in his new environment and he’s ready for a new beginning.
Hippo is a sweet, gentle, and goofy boy. He gets along with anyone he meets and will surely be a great addition to any home.
